Details

The devil is in the details….or, if you prefer a more positive version of this proverb, usually attributed to the architect Le Corbusier, “God is in the details”. Regardless of your favorite version, it all boils down to the same thing…even the grandest project depends on the success of the smallest components.

When it comes to remodeling, truer words were never spoken. The details which you'll see in this slide show are merely the final manifestations of hours of communicating, learning, thinking, drawing, critiquing, and doing. When you understand remodeling as thoroughly as we do, you realize that this is a simple process which is not easy for most companies to perform well. This process takes thousands of hours, eventually a lifetime of learning and understanding before any of us can hope to provide value.

At Modern Yankee Builders, we don't make the mistake of accepting ‘doing the same thing for a long time' as a substitute for ‘doing the right things (the details) for a good reason'. Make no mistake, I've been in this business for more than 20 years and have been crafting wood for over 30, but longevity is not a substitute for competence. And competence is a moving target as our materials, tools and acceptable industry practices continues to evolve.

The only acceptable, professional approach to remodeling is to always pay attention to the details. That means understanding the strengths and limitations of new materials,; it means making detailed project schedules so your project starts and finishes on time; it means making sure that our Trade Contractors have their insurance up-to-date before they're allowed in your home; it means starting the design process at step one…not at step 3; and it results in a successful, satisfying, worth-while investment in your home and your lifestyle instead of a waste of your time and money.

Our ‘Gallery' shows details we can take pictures of, but the other pages of our website allow you to educate yourself about the most important details…the details which are impossible to photograph. We hope you'll look at those details, too.
