Not surprisingly, Bed & Bath renovations are just about as popular as Kitchen renovations. That is to say, very popular. To be sure, these are rooms we spend time in every day and, as a result, have become quite important to us.

The U.S. Census Bureau wanted to find out exactly how important these rooms have become so they conducted the American Housing Survey. In the survey they found that if you own an average 1,850 square foot home, if you add a half bath (i.e. going from 1 ½ to 2 baths, or from 2 to 2 ½ baths, etc…), you can expect to see a 10.5% increase in the value of your home. Further, the more bedrooms you have, the more the value of your house increases with the addition of each ½ of a bath because the additional bathroom becomes that much more important to a prospective home buyer. Makes sense, doesn’t it? So it won’t surprise you to find out that regardless of the size of the house, number of bedrooms, or number of bathrooms, the lowest increase in home value was 9.5%!
